Eid cards

Eid is the time to seek blessings of Allah for yourself and for your loved ones basically it is a way to express your feeling to others the widespread use of mobile phone SMS and internet has promoted E-cards culture and eclipsed the business of traditional Eid cards.

Stalls of traditional Eid cards at Super Market are seen awaiting customers. Options of SMS, voice message, online chatting, E-cards are cheaper than traditional greeting cards. Animated and attractive E-cards have grabbed youngsters. A few years back, Eid card stalls used to be flooded with customers these days.


Sale of Eid cards have been decreasing over time. In the market, cards bear the same old prints of roses, oceans and Eid Mubarak signs in Urdu, English and Punjabi. Handmade and musical cards are also available at various outlets. Besides, students of fine arts are also producing some eye-catching stuff.

Some people said that Eid cards would never die out because they can refresh people’s memory in a much better way than a simple E-mail or SMS

Eid is a muslim festival.People belonging to different castes,creeds and countries celebrate different festival.The festivals have both religious & psychological importance.Eid is a day of joy & pleasure for the muslims.The muslim wait this day whole year.Eid celebrated every year with full of religious fevour.Eid comes every year with the message of hope,love,equality & universal brotherhood.
There are 2 Eids one comes after Ramazan called "Eid-Ul-Fitr" in short word called "Choti Eid" & the other comes after Haj called "Eid-Ul-Azha" in short called "Bari Eid".

Chand Raat


The night before the Eid is called the
"Chand Raat" on this night ,muslims gather on the roofs of their houses.They want to see the new moon called "Crescent".They wait for its appearance keenly.When new moon appears in sky, muslims shout with joy & congratulate one another.








They buy new shoes,dresses & bhanglies.There is a great excitement everywhere on this night.Girls buy bangles & mehndi in that night.

Eid-Ul-Fitr


Eid-Ul-Fitr is a festival of fastbreaking.It comes after the month of fasting,it has especially spiritual significance.Ramazan is celebrated during ninth month of the muslim calender.Eid day begins with early in the morning, take a bath & wearing a new or atleast cleanst possible cloths & sparying perfoum on own self.Then muslims follow "Fitrana" to the deserving.Then muslims go to "Eidgah" for say "Eid prayer".After Eid namaz they embrace to each other & they forget all complaints.They also visit their friends & relatives also exchanging gifts with them.Muslims women stay at home & cook tasty dishes.They also distribute sweets,vermecelli(sawaian).Sawaian is the most popular dish of the Eid.

children recive gifts not in the form of toys, in the form of money called "Edi".An important part of Eid-Ul-Fitr is performing acts of charity.
Atlast Eid is the happiest day of our lives.

Eid-Ul-Azha


Eid-Ul-Azha is the Festival of Sacrifice.Eid-ul-Azha is celebrating after the 2 months of Eid-ul-Fitr.It celebrate on the 10 Zul Haj.Which is the last month of muslim year.When an animal sacrificed in commemoration of Abraham's sacrifice of his son.In this way,muslims sacrifice an animal in that day in the way of Allah.Muslims distribute meat in poor commounity.

This festival contious for 3 days school,colleges & offices are closed for the eid holidays.

We must help the poor & needy persons in that day.In this way they can also enjoy the pleasures of Eid.

Dishes of Eid-Ul-Fitr

The Eid-Ul-Fitr is also called sweet Eid. So mostly sweet dishes are cook in that eid.Kheer and seviyan is a traditional desert that served in Eid-ul-Fitr in every muslim home and cook in different methods. Muslims eat some sweet before go to Eid prayer.Here I share with the recipe of Kheer i like it very much

Ingredients:



1 cup of cooked basmati rice (long grain rice)
8 green cardamom pods crushed
2 tablespoons rose essence
2 tablespoons ground pistachio nuts
71/2 cups of whole milk 12 tablespoons sugar

The rice is to be ground finely and placed in a saucepan with the cardamoms. Add 6 3/4 cups of milk and boil over medium heat stirring continuously. Add remaining milk and cook over a medium heat until the rice mixture thickens to a creamy consistency. Add sugar and the rose water and continue to cook for another 2 minutes. Serve chilled, and garnished with nuts.

Chana Chat:

Chana chat can be a savory retreat from all sweets things.In Eid day mostly girls like chana chat that ready in 10 minutes easily if all things prepare already.the method of this recipe is below.

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:

2 medium size onion
2 cup boil chickpeas
5 medium size potatoes
1 tomato
4 to 6 green chillies
chatmasala according to taste
1 tablespoon black masala

Method:

Cut potatoes in small dice and boil it & chickpeas.After boil drain it.Chop onion,tomato,green chilli in small dice.Take one large size pot add all ingredients in it and mix it,seasoned with paprika,salt,black salt,chat masala according to taste and it ready to serve. This dish also available in south asia.

Dishes of Eid-Ul-Azha

The menu is as much integral part of Eid celebration as the customs & tradition. In Eid-ul-Azha every muslim families cook that foods which are not cook regularly eaten. Most Eid-Ul-azha dishes focused on the sacrifice meat.Korma & Shami Kebab is one of them.

Korma:

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of Corn oil
1 chicken cut into pieces
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 green chilies
3 large tomatoes
2 large red onions
2 teaspoons ginger paste<
2 teaspoons garlic paste
5 black peppercorns
2 black cardamom pods
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons natural yogurt
1 teaspoon lemon juice



Method:

The oil needs to be heated in a large heavy bottomed pan. Sautehe finely sliced onions until the color changes to golden brown. Add the ginger, garlic, chili, mixed spices, salt, cardamom, and peppercorns and mix well. Chop the tomatoes, and add them to the mixture. Stir well for two to three minutes. Add the chicken and fry on high heat and coat the chicken mixture with the spices. Reduce heat to low and cover. Let the chicken cook for 25 minutes. Add yogurt, lemon juice and chilies. Let cook on low heat for another 20 minutes. Serve with salad.

Shami Kebab:

Ingredient:

1 kg minced meat without fat
2 tbsp chana dal (split gram) washed and soaked in water for 1 hr
2 pieces dalchini
(cinnamon)3 cloves
1 piece ginger
1 tsp coriander and cumin powder
1 tsp garam masala
10 garlic flakes
2 elaichi
1 tsp chili powder
A pinch of pepper
A handful of Kothmir and chopped pudina
Few (mint leaves
1 egg
Juice of 2 a lemon
1 finely chopped onion
Oil for frying
Salt to taste



Method:

Wash and drain the mince. Mix the split gram , whole spices, a cup of water and salt to taste.Cook until it becomes dry. Remove from the fire and add ginger, garlic, pepper, chili powder, coriander and cumin powder and grind the mixture into a fine paste and knead into a dough. Now add the chopped mint leaves, kothmir, lime juice and salt to taste. Make lemon sized balls of the dough, flatten the balls and stuff them with a little onion mixture. Dip the stuffed kebabs in the beaten eggs and shallow fry till it is cooked. serve it with salad.
